I walked down to Camden Yards from my apartment. It's not too long of a walk, maybe just 10 minutes. Once I got inside the ballpark, I had find the section we were seated in. I feel like it took longer to walk around the outside of the ballpark and find section #75 than it took for me to walk to the park from my apartment! But I did find it. Right when I walked it, I saw a sea of guys dressed in white shirts and ties. I guess that was a good sign I was in the right place :) All the missionaries were there! I found the section that my ward was seated in, and I had a blast sitting with them and chatting. I'll admit, I ended up talking most of the game and not really paying attention. Which was kind of the fun part I guess. But. The game was good! Super good. The Orioles are known for not being that great of a team overall, but it was still fun to watch them play. We lost the game by ONE point. It was pretty intense near the end, too.
Me and my friend Elizabeth at the Orioles game
Some of my friends from the ward (Emily, Amber, and Elizabeth) and their concessions. With perhaps a slight bit of role reversal ;) (Emily is a vegetarian)
It was late when the game got out, almost 11. But don't worry, there was a whole group of us to walk home together, so we were super safe.
The next day was a pretty good one as well. Saturday. My apartment complex had planned a resident pool party. There was supposed to be some super nice catered food, and Kevin (the guy that works at the front desk that is a R&B singer) was going to perform). I had planned to go to that. I went up to the pool area a bit after it was scheduled to start, but it still seemed like it was getting set up, so I decided to go back up a bit later. Well...then some super bad weather hit. So, I vetoed the pool party, and made my own plans.
Emily found this Indian restaurant in Towson (a Baltimore suburb) that was supposedly really really good. We decided to go try it. Which means we got to take the MTA. Emily and I love the MTA :) The #11 goes right by my house, then by her house, and then up to Towson. It couldn't have been more perfect. Except for one thing. I arrived at the stop 10 min early just to be safe. The bus ended up being 25 min late. Remember how I didn't go to the pool party because it was bad weather? That means that I was standing out in the rain for 35 minutes waiting for the bus. And the last 15 min. of that time was East Coast DOWNPOUR. I guess I can cross that off my hypothetical "bucket list"- stand in a true east coast rain. I was the only one on the street. I'm surprised my umbrella didn't break from the force the downpour had on it. Literally.
I got on the bus. Told Emily it was coming, and we were on our way to Towson. The Indian place was great! We even made it in time for the lunch buffet! So. Good. I have this fetish for Indian food. It's to die for.
After we had our Indian feast, we went to Trader Joe's. As far as I'm aware, there are no Trader Joe's in Utah, so it's cool to go to stores that I don't always have to chance to when I'm at home.
Then we were ready to go home. But...we couldn't find the south bound bus stop for the #11. It was slightly traumatic. The streets were weird and the stop was no where to be found. We got on a #8 bus home instead. Which I then got to transfer to my fav bus, the #3. Long story short, I made it home. Lesson learned: look up the bus stops before leaving home :)
